Resources for Healing Attachment Disorders

I was back-tracking an interesting search query that led someone to my blog and ran across a great web site that was one of the Google search results. From what I saw, this has links to a lot of great resources if you’re dealing with attachment problems, so I wanted to share it. (I didn’t go beyond the page to which I am linking, but it looked as if the whole thing would make for good reading.)

AG, I started crying by just browsing some of the info. In a visceral way so much of this topic feels familiar. It will take time, but reading some of information gives me more to explore with my T. Thank you for posting this. Xoxo

I went from her blog to resources and found this book that’s coming out later this month. I’m definitely talking to my T about it. http://www.amazon.com/Trauma-Body-Sensorimotor-Psychotherapy-Interpersonal/dp/0393704572

      Judy,
There’s a book available right now (it actually shows up as a suggestion on your book’s page is The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel Van der Kolk. He’s a leading trauma expert and I am reading the book right now and it’s really incredible. He includes a lot of cutting edge neurobiological research in an easy to understand presentation. I’ve been bringing it into therapy and finding it really useful. The author has worked with the author of the book you posted and Ogden is actually mentioned in the book. Thanks for the heads up. xx AG

I am an Awakening Coach and studied for the last 7 years at Awakening To Presence School in Golden CO with Michael Fleming. One of the basis of our training was Attachment Theory as well as many other theories. Our training and works main purpose is diving into the body, being in the truth of moment and having a secure base coach facilitating the session. Of course we had to do the hard work of diving into our own bodies and making new synaptic patterns before we could help others go there. There is nothing about my life that is the same after doing this work. I tried so many things before I found this.

Having trust is so fundamental in life and if most if us started out as an insecure attachment person. We need to make new connections in our nervous system that helps us learn to trust. The dis-trust could have been laid down as a newborn and getting to that early stage of life you need that secure (primary caregiver) to hold that space for you while you exploring. The journey is worth it!!
