Happy Mother’s Day

For those of my reader’s who are moms, I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day. Your commitment to healing and working through your issues are such a loving gift for your children.

For those of you who have mother’s for whom it is difficult to have the kind of sentiments expressed in Mother’s Day cards, I want to say I am sorry and that it’s ok you don’t feel that way. Not every mother is a paragon of love and devotion and while we can still love them (or not, I know under some circumstances that may not be possible), Mother’s Day brings its own pain and guilt. I pray you can find comfort from other people in your life who love and appreciate you and find peace about what your mom is like. Be gentle with yourselves. love, AG

Thanks Cat, you were definitely one of the mom’s I was thinking of when I talked about your courage in healing being the best gift you could give your daughter. Happy Mother’s Day!

    Hi AG,

It’s been a while, but that’s because I’m swamped with books, course material and paper deadlines (one due tomorrow!). Exams are in 6 days, ouch.
I sent my T a text message this morning wishing my ‘therapist-mom’ a happy mother’s day – we’re really serious about this maternal transference thing, haha. She replied wishing me a happy mother’s day and to celebrate our inner and outer moms. I like that idea.

Big, big hugs to all you sweet and wonderful women out there. I’m missing you.

(((Marijke))) No need to explain, as I totally understand and if I remember correctly, I’m the one behind! Thanks for swinging by, it’s good to hear from you. Happy Mother’s Day to you and your wife and best of luck with your exams. That was a lovely message from your therapist. 🙂 Enjoy the day! xx AG

I see the moderator caught it (sorry!) – I was just trying to say, thank you for your lovely post -so thoughtful, guess that’s why we love you as well as your very erudite musings.

      Hi shy-to-say,
Welcome to my blog and thanks for commenting. That is a great username (when it’s not auto-corrected :D). The first time a new user post’s its goes into moderation (that allows me to make sure something didn’t slip past the spam filter) so I have to review it before it goes up on the blog. Once you have one approved comments the rest will be posted right away. I corrected the spelling of your username before letting your first comment get posted. 🙂 I am glad that you found the note comforting, I know from experience what a difficult day it can be. ~ AG

Thanks for your insightful post as always AG. Haven’t talked to my mother in seven years. I truly think it is the best decision for me and my children, but it is hard sometimes. Most people don’t understand that sometimes, there are very valid reasons for cutting ties with toxic people. You do, and I appreciate that.

Happy Mother’s Day, AG! Thank you for the “motherly” listening, advise, and encouragement you offer! My best gift was my husband coming home from the hospital!!! Fingers crossed over remaining tests. I hope everyone has a great week! Xoxo Ann
